Recent birthday milestone of a Country Singer's successful charity.

A famous country singer just celebrated her 80th birthday by doing a Cavalcade of festivities to mark the occasion. One of her accomplishments is her charity, the 'Dollywood Foundation'.

With a celebration at the Grand Ole Opry (even if she is not there), celebrities wishing her Happy Birthday, to her releasing new music with the likes of Queen Latifah, Lainey Wilson and her goddaughter herself, Miley Cyrus.

Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton is (by far) one of the most celebrated artists out there, spanning over 100 million records sold, the most number ones in the Billboard Country 100 by a female artist and scoring Grammy awards including the 'Best Bluegrass Album' in 2001 for 'The Grass Is Blue'.

One of the mere achievements she has achieved and I wanted to highlight is the 'Dollywood Foundation'. She created this in 1988 to help the less fortunate help with education costs. Most students in the US have hard times paying for a degree in school, some schools cannot afford supplies to teach certain subjects; like music, where they would need to buy musical instruments.

When she created this in 1988, she saw that high school students were dropping out in numbers, so she created this to help fund students to continue their education.

According to the official website, in the early 90s, she would give middle school students (Grade 7 & 8) $500 if they complete their high school education and get their High School Diplomas. Since then, the drop out rate drastically reduced from 35% to only 6%. This foundation also helped fund school resources to help achieve their students success.

In Canada, over 57,000 preschool children receive new books to their classrooms every month. That's according to the 'Canada Helps' website.

The Dollywood Foundation also created an Imagination Library dedicated to help foster kids imaginations to help fund more literature such as, school supplies, books and funding for schools. This helps more students educate without having to worry about the costs.

How this expanded in Canada was in 2006, when she was performing at her concert in Toronto. She announced that she will bring it to Canada to help support more children read. This has expanded to include other provinces and the territories.

Below is how this process works (in Canada):

Dolly Parton started off as a country singer, but continued to grow expediently into launching her very own charity which helps impoverished communities fund education for students, but as well as ensuring all schools get the proper supplies they need.
