Imagine a whole town dancing to a special Christmas Song!
This past year during the Holiday season, a famous singer got the whole town dancing to this song.

Every year, an artist/band/or a charity single would try to end up being number one during Christmas time, and BBC Radio 1 would announce it.
This year, it was all eyes on two singles, Wham for 'Last Christmas' and Kylie Minogue's Amazon Music Exclusive, 'XMAS'.
And it was a tight race, because if Wham got it, they would be the first and only artist to score a number one for Christmastime for the past three years. If Kylie got the number one, she will be the only artist to go number one in these four decades from 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2020s. And the first number one from the Amazon Music exclusives.
There was challenges everywhere where everyone was doing the 'XMAS' dance, and trending on TikTok during Christmas 2025. And in one very fashion, got the whole entire community to do it as well.
One town in the UK, Ashburton, got the whole town together to dance to Kylie's song, 'XMAS'.
Check it out below!
I talked with one of the representative of two local shops in Ashburton, Pad on West Street and JAM on North Street, and he told me about the challenge itself.
The curator who started this trend was from a local store in Ashburton, and Glen Middleham who runs a local store, PAD on West Street and JAM (another shop/gallery) on North Street. He tells me about the 'XMAS' challenge and what motivated him to start on his challenge.
1. Why Kylie Minogue's 'XMAS'? Why did you want to help Kylie contribute to having her get the Christmas #1?

2. What was the town's reaction to the song? How did you get the entire town to do the 'XMAS' challenge?
Glen: "Kylie's fandom is a symbiotic relationship - she serves creativity, entertains and we support devour, revel and send the love right back at her - be it on social media or at a concert. I feel that the love she receives back in return is like rocket fuel for her jet pack and our collective future adventures. We didn't necessarily set out to promote XMAS, but probably with the press, news crews and coverage we attracted, may have actually helped spread the word! I know of a fair few sales from Ashburton residents who may not have ordinarily heard the song, let alone made their purchase! As we got closer to Kylie looking like she might scoop Christmas number one, it became more about us dancing our way to Christmas number one with Kylie! The fact that she liked it multiple times and commented too was great. We loved that she loved it! And over 300,000 collective views isn't bad, eh?"
3. Tell me about Ashburton to someone who hasn't been there before. Most of the viewers are international viewers.
Glen: "Ashburton is an ancient stannary town nestled on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon. (Devon is the southwest county in England). IT has been voted as one of 'The Times and Muddy Stiletto's' top places to live. ('The Times' and 'Muddy Stilettos', are journalists in England). It is a quaint, picturesque town with a wealth of quirky independently run eateries, shops, cafes, and antique shops. It probably holds a record for the most independently run businesses in a UK town. It's fun, colourful, has a thriving arts scene at Ashburton's very own Arts Centre, and do you know? I'm very proud to call it home."
As you can hear from Glen, the owner of Pad gift shop in Ashburton, the amount of love that they gave Kylie is immense, giving her the eighth number one overall and her first Christmas number one in the UK.
This shows that if you can get the whole community to rally for one song, you can do anything.
Thanks Glen!
