Advice on helping Tim Hortons get back to it's feet.

Tim Hortons has been a catalyst for bringing Canadians together. Whether it be talk over family matters a cup of coffee, enjoying a couple of Timbits after a long soccer practice, or mainly going to buy for co-workers, Canadians trust Tim Hortons for all this.

But the real problem is, there are many Canadians turning against Tim Hortons because of the employers they are hiring temporary workers - most of which can't seem to understand the culture of Tim Hortons, or the quality of the food is not good - serving bad coffee bits on the bottom of the cup.

And very recently, the coffee prices are heading up due to inflation.

Well, I'll tell you about my opinion regarding this.

This opinion is solely based on what I feel could be the best direction to get Tim Hortons bring back their reputation to be Canada's Favourite Coffee Shop again.

This is based on the experience that I was in while sitting down with a cup of coffee, their new Spiced Vanilla Donut and looking at the picture of their "20th anniversary" plaque and Tim Horton hockey player to my left.

1. Bring back their in service experience - with plates, cups and other needs.

To start with, I noticed that all the staff are there in the back either making food or drinks, taking customers orders or even cleaning the washrooms.

But something that really saddens me is losing the in-person dining experience - something like having a cup of coffee and sitting down with people.

I understand the cleaning process afterwards, but lately with the climate of social media rising and more people - particularly seniors feel isolated - this helps improve customer experience and socialize with people!

2. Stop making new menu items - that do not benefit Canadians.

Take for instance their collaboration with Ryan Reynolds and his Scrambled Eggs. People have been taking videos on TikTok that looks horrifying - too much sauce on their plate, not much flavour into the dish (not much salt, the eggs appear less).

And the quality of the food is not good - compared to their competitors like McDonald's and most recently, A&W. (they are becoming a grandiose fast food competitor that has seen revenue go up).

What they should do stop making new items - and focus primarily on improving their quality of their food. Update the kitchen supplies so staff can easily toast bagels, crack eggs, etc. They can focus on improving their flavour, they have their own kitchen to retaste their food and see what can be added or subtracted.

If they improve on their food, less complaints will happen and customer satisfaction improves.

3. Revalue on their past - whether it be the legacy of Tim Horton, or bringing back their menu items.

I seen many restaurants doing this, for example, McDonald's revisiting their past with McRib. Burger King logo looking like something they did from the past.

Even Taco Bell did a menu to celebrate their past.

Tim Hortons is currently presenting their vintage cups. Cups that appeared from the past. I talked with people and they were also questioning why Tim Hortons did this. They were questioning the reason behind doing these cups in the first place.

What they should do is celebrate their past, by introducing previous menu items, like Maple Pecan Danish, Dutchie (like what they did in 2022) and the Sugar Twist. And make it recurring so more people can try with their coffee.

4. Bring back the 'Coffee and Donut' Promotions.

Brand-new Tim Hortons Latte in 2017.
Tim Hortons can generate more revenue by promoting deals.

Right now, the app only includes all the deals but people without cellphones, or for convenience sakes do not want to download the app - mainly because of defects and how slow the app can be.

I would consider them creating an combo just for coffee and donuts. Rediscovering their love for 'Canada's Coffee and Donut Chain' would be amazing.

Even if the promotion is temporarily - it would be nice to have a deal for the seniors.

To my right is an pop-up from Tim Hortons I have been to, they were serving up free lattes and promoting heavily.

The atmosphere is white, bright and clean. This is what you want to grab more attention to particular events.

Influencers, as much as I love them, can only do so much promotion for social media, but with more presence with the public, more people can find out more about what Tim Hortons is serving.
