The History about an Manchester Band who was 'Wonderwall'-ing us in the 90s.
You probably heard about this 90s Britpop bands making an resurgence, and its not The Beatles. Manchester four-piece band, Oasis is embarking on a comeback tour since 2005.
To look at the history behind one of the most beloved bands of the 90s, we need to start in the early 90s. Noel Gallagher (born 1967) and Liam Gallagher (born 1972) were both brothers who hated each other. According to the Wikipedia page, Noel was invited after to form the new band.
In 1990, they formed the band, originally called 'The Rain'. This consists of Paul McGuigan (bassist), Paul Arthurs (guitarist) and Tony McCarroll.
But alas, they were looking for something like a different name and new ideas, then came the Gallagher Brothers. Noel was already writing several songs out before he came to be. And was invited by Liam to create a brand-new name.

He sang at the concert hall a few times including 2009 when Morrissey had an injury which he suffered from collapsing while opening for them.
Thankfully, he was in stable condition at the time and expected to be okay.
Side note: Unfortunately, that center was up for demolition in 2020, during the pandemic with leasing for the 'sports hall', 'waterslides', 'launch tower' and 'splash pool'. Thankfully they are slated to open in January 2026 in conjunction to their 50th anniversary.
Back to Oasis, 'Bonehead' said that he did not find much ideas with his former band, but when Noel came in with his several songs written, they exploded right away.
After many concerts, live halls and bar performances, Oasis (the band) taking off with much fanfare.
Fame came not after, Oasis signed a record deal with Sony and soon after, they exploded.
Much to fanfare, people were buying their albums, 'Definitely Maybe' (their debut album) sold 2 Million copies, going 9x Platinum in its first week sales. The heightened love for Britpop continued to surge and Oasis has flourished in the UK and around the world, with Oasis in the spotlight, they have given a platform for other Britpop acts to reach successful stardom, including Manic Street Preachers, Pulp and The Verve.
At the end, the album would be their most-successful. In the UK, it reached 18x Platinum selling 5 million copies. Around the world, some countries had reached platinum status including the US, Spain, France, Japan; and Gold status in Singapore, Belgium, and Austria.
At their pinnacle of their heightened success, they are reigned one of the most revolutionized bands and brought Britpop to the main stage, setting up for major influences from other artists, and being adored by massive fans.
Now, the breakup. There are several problems leading up to their split. One was back in 2009, when Liam contracted Laryngitis forcing them to cancel in Chelmsford, UK. Originally, Noel lied and told the media that it was due to a "hangover". Liam sued Noel about the accusation which then the lawsuit dropped after Noel issued an apology.
They were also supposed to perform at 'Rock en Seine' (a music festival that runs near the end of August in France) and as Bloc Party was about to finish their set, the lead singer told the crowd 'Oasis will not be performing'. This sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Later on, Noel issued a statement, it read:
"It is with some sadness and great relief ... I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."
-Noel Gallagher
Noel decided to leave the band. Leaving Liam Gallagher and his band mates to rename to 'Beady Eye' and finish the rest of the tour.
No words from a reunion tour until 2023. When there was speculation that Oasis will go on a reunion tour to celebrate their 30th anniversary of their album, 'Definitely Maybe'.
